James A. Tyler
DOVER – James Allen Tyler, 80, entered into rest at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at his home. He was the loving husband of Tanya (Gurreri) Tyler. The couple celebrated 34 years of marriage on October 14, 2023.
Born March 19, 1944 in Spring Grove, James was a son of the late William D. and Georgia (Miller) Tyler.
He graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1962 and worked as a truck driver for H. M. Kelly Inc. and Frock Bros Trucking, Inc., both in New Oxford.
James was a member of New Oxford Social Club and enjoyed golfing and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert A. Tyler and Timothy J. Tyler and wife, April, all of New Oxford; two daughters, Shari A. Ross and husband, Allan of Abbottstown and Jill L. Brown and husband, Mark of Gettysburg; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Richard Tyler; and four sisters, Shirley Harris, Barbara Curry, Linda Kagarise and Patricia Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Tyler; three brothers; and two sisters.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. and the visitation from 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Interment will be private in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Sterling Walsh, Jr., pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Greater York.
