Betty J. Hughes

DOVER – Betty J. Hughes, 79, entered into rest at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital.  She was the loving wife of Dale L. Hughes.  The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage on November 4, 2022.

Born June 16, 1944 in York, Betty was a daughter of the late Charles F. and Alverta (Stambaugh) Brillhart.

She worked as the head chef for Dairyland Family Restaurant and received numerous awards during her 20 years of service.

Betty loved BINGO, going to casinos, making special cards and doing crafts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Melinda S. Harbold of Dover; son, Terry D. Hughes of Dover; two grandchildren, Melissa Hughes Hayo and Tanner Hughes; a great granddaughter, Riley Jean Hughes; a sister, Dorothy Cody of Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.  She was preceded in death by son, John C. Hughes and two sisters, Kathy Day and Joyce Hoffman.

Services for Betty will be private at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
