Betty C. Hughes

MANCHESTER – Betty C. Hughes, 93, entered into rest at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at York Hospital.

Born April 15, 1925 in North Hopewell Township, she was a daughter of the late Curvin and Mabel E. (McLane) Stermer.

Betty retired following over 40 years of service for Georgia Pacific in Mount Wolf.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Debra J. Sidesinger and husband, George of Manchester and Steven E. Hughes and wife, Justine of York Haven; four grandchildren, Andrea, Jared, Kirstin and husband, Casey, and Wyatt; a great grandson, Levi; five sisters, Mary Landis and Dorothy Shank, both of Wellsville, Grace Marks of Harrisburg, Janet Livingston of Dover and Alice Mansberger of York Haven; and a brother, Gerald Stermer of East Berlin.  In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Stermer and three brothers, Robert, George and David Stermer.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's funeral at 10:30 a.m. and the viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover.   Burial will follow in Dover Bethany Cemetery.  Officiating will be the Rev. Laura Bair, pastor of Starview U.C.C., Mount Wolf .
