Gary C. Simmons

YORK - Gary C. Simmons, 76, entered into rest Tuesday morning, August 20, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle Memorial Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Wanda J. (Shaffner) Simmons.  They were married 48 years.

Born August 12, 1943 in Dover, Gary was a son of the late John A. and Florence (Byerts) Simmons.

He was a self-employed tree trimmer and landscaper.  Gary enjoyed puzzles and having his beloved dog, Lexi, by his side.

Gary is survived by two sons, Gary A. Simmons and Michael E. Shaffner and wife, Tammy, all of York; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Simmons of Dover; and a sister, Gloria Covert of York.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, John and Clarence Simmons and three sisters, Pauline Chronister, Betty McVaugh and Catherine McClintock.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gary's funeral at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 with a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery.  Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace U.C.C. in Hanover.
