Gloria F. Covert

YORK – Gloria F. Covert, 88, entered into rest at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at her home.

Born October 26, 1934 in Dover, Gloria was a daughter of the late John A. and Florence (Byerts) Simmons.

She was a "foster grandparent" for Ferguson Elementary School and had also worked for Peter Paul Candy and Stauffer's Biscuit Company.

Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to the beach and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

She is survived by five daughters, Cheryl Buchmyer and husband, Daniel of Simpsonville, SC, Lorri Lehr and companion, Paul Reemsmyer of York, Brenda Shank of York, Sandra Holler and husband, Gregory of Delta and Michelle Swords of York; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Simmons of Dover.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Charles D. Covert; a daughter, Diana Covert; two grandchildren; a great grandson; four brothers; and three sisters.

Relative and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gloria's graveside service at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Mount Rose Cemetery in York.  There will be a viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
