Obituary

Janice M. Oaster

DOVER - Janice Mary Oaster, 80, of Dover, entered into rest on August 28, 2026 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 13, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Clayton L. and Annamae (Davidson) Evans. Janice was the wife of the love of her life, the late Ronald J. Oaster, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. She later shared ten years of companionship with the late Jason Gross, and in recent years enjoyed the companionship of Donald Davis and his family. She is survived by her two sons, Michael T. Oaster and his wife, Kathy, and grandsons Zachary and Adam; and Brian P. Oaster and his wife, Robin, and granddaughters Kelty, Autumn, and Winter. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Evans and Bonnie Evans, as well as many nieces and nephews. Janice held a special place in her heart for her great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Evans and William "Jay" Evans.

A graduate of Littlestown High School, Class of 1963, Janice continued her education at York Junior College and Strayer Business College. Throughout her career, Janice was employed by Littonian Shoe in Littlestown and Wolf Management in York. She retired from Holland Properties in Hanover after 30 years of service.

Janice was deeply committed to her 5 grandchildren and closely followed their activities throughout their lives. She was also active in the community and generously gave her time and talents to many organizations. She served as both a member and officer of numerous community organizations, including the Littlestown Lions Club and Littlestown Women's Club. For many years, she was a guiding committee member for the Adams-Hanover Outstanding Young Woman program. Her church was also an important part of her life. Janice was an active member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as Church Treasurer and was a member of the "Calvary Ringers." Janice was an avid game player who loved the fun and fellowship of playing with family and friends. She also cherished the many memories created through travel and camping with those she loved.
