Shirley R. Lauer

DOVER – Shirley R. Lauer, 71, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2020 at her son's home.  She was the wife of Donald E. Lauer.  The couple observed 50 years of marriage in May of 2019. Born September 20, 1948 in York, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Irene A. (Smith) Sourbier. Shirley graduated from Dover High School in 1966. She retired in 2017 from Pennex Aluminum where she was a receptionist and previously worked for Pfaltzgraff. Shirley was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Dover High School Alumni Association and the Heritage Senior Center in Dover. She had many friends and loved shopping, being outdoors, gardening and making flower arrangements. In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her son, Shannon M. Lauer of York; her "second son", Russell P. Esenwine of York; a sister-in-law, Linda Horner of Dover; a near and dear niece, Dawn Pete of Manchester, and numerous other nieces and nephews. Out of respect and concern for public health and safety, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
