Alverta M. Stough
DILLSBURG – Alverta M. (Toomey) Mummert Stough, 91, entered into rest at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Church of God Home in Carlisle. She was the wife of the late Sterling J. Mummert and the late Lynn L. Stough, Jr.
Born December 19, 1930 in York, Alverta was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Dorothy M. (Myers) Toomey, Sr.
She was a farmer.
Alverta was a member of Harmony Bethel Church of God in Dillsburg and the Red Hat Society in Dillsburg and a life member of York County Society of Farm Women, Group #17. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and going out to eat. Alverta was a kind person who always had a positive outlook on life and a great infectious laugh. She loved her family dearly.
Alverta is survived by five children, Shirl Creek, wife of the late Bill, of Charleston, SC, Karen Cannady and husband, Curtis of Martinsville, VA, Randall Melhorn of York, Lana West and husband, Steven of Dillsburg and Mark Mummert and wife, Pam of Mechanicsburg; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Mummert of Bowmansdale; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne L. Toomey of Golden Isles, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl Mummert; a sister, Theda L. Leggore; and two brothers, Charles W. Toomey, Jr. and Dennis J. Toomey.
Alverta's celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving her family.
