Anita E. Shaffer
DOVER - Anita E. (Day) Shaffer, 74, received her final healing when Jesus opened Heaven for her on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at York Hospital, surrounded by her adoring and devoted family.
Born August 26, 1949 in York, Anita was a daughter of the late Lloyd V. Day and Lyda M. (Taylor) Day Smith.
She graduated in 1967 from York High (William Penn).
Anita took delight in puttering around on the family farm where she resided, tending to the various kinds of animals that live there, and working with her son and grandson on tasks around the property. She also loved reading books, trivia, watching mystery shows, flower gardening and, of course, going to yard sales with her daughter and granddaughter. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved with her whole self - especially her grandchildren within whom she found true joy. She was a stay-at-home mom in addition to being a babysitter for friends and family. Anita was a very generous person, always giving her time and energy to those she loved, and she also took pleasure in contributing financially what she could to various organizations. She also loved her Pepsi.
Anita will be sorely missed and is survived by her three children, Marlin R. Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Stacey of Yuma, AZ, Micheal R. Shaffer of Dover and Marlena R. MacPherson and husband, Darryl of York; five grandchildren, Cree Jones (Brandon), Dalton Shaffer (Ali), Tyler MacPherson (Amanda), Chelsea Brown and Jared Faccin; two great grandchildren, McKenzie MacPherson and Jasper Wire; a brother, Larry E. “Lenny” Day of York; and a large extended family and her dog Mella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Marlin R. Shaffer, Sr., grandson, Trent Brown and siblings, Carl L. Day, Sr., Robert P. Day, Sr., Paul S. “Buzz” Day and Phyllis P. Witmer. Her legacy of love will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 2:30pm. Location will be Providence Presbyterian Church, 1215 Church Road, York Pa 17404. Interment will be private in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
