Arthur E. Adams II

DOVER – Arthur E. Adams II, 80, entered into rest Thursday morning, May 14, 2026 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Janet M. (Hankey) Adams.  The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage on February 21, 2026.

Born June 11, 1945 in York, Arthur was a son of the late Arthur E. and Mary E. (Baum) Adams.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.

Arthur retired in 2012 from Memorial Hospital where he worked in the maintenance department.  He previously worked for York Shipley and Donlee Technologies where he was a boiler tester.

Arthur was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and West York VFW Post 8951.  He enjoyed country music, dancing, gardening, traveling across the United States and attending the Arcadia Bluegrass Festival.

In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by four children, David Tipler and wife, Kim of Cleburne, TX, Linda Anderson of Dover, Rickie Adams and companion, Wanda Gross of Strinestown and Paggie Wolfe and husband, Brian of York; six grandchildren, Courtney, Joellyn, Cierra, Lauren, Joshua and David; two step-grandchildren, John and Kristie; ten great grandchildren; and his sister, Nola of Carlisle.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John “Butch” Adams.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Arthur’s viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Following cremation, there will be a graveside service at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026 in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.  The procession will form at the cemetery entrance at 9:15 a.m.  Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Christ U.C.C. in Jefferson.
