Arthur M. Allison
DOVER – Arthur M. Allison, 91, entered into rest at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home. He was the loving husband of Edna E. (Chapman) Allison. The couple celebrated 72 years of marriage on March 7, 2021.
Born November 29, 1929 in Tannersville, VA, Arthur was a son of the late Samuel T. and Mary (Surber) Allison.
He retired on January 1, 1989 from Columbia Gas Company where he worked as a foreman.
Arthur was a car enthusiast and enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Arthur E. Allison and wife, Deborah and Roger L. Allison, all of Dover; six grandchildren, Kelsey Meckley, Melissa Bell, Nathan Allison, Thomas Allison, Chad Allison and Ben Allison; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver J., David P. and Wyndom R. Allison; and two sisters, Sarah Shoemaker and Trula Baxter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Arthur’s interment at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021 in Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave., York, with the procession forming at the cemetery’s entrance at 10:45 a.m. His memorial service will be on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 1 p.m., with a visitation from 12 noon to 1 p.m., at New Beginnings Church of God of Prophecy, 2181 Baltimore Pike, East Berlin. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Wallen.
