DOVER – Barbara M. Emig, 64, entered into rest at 12:43 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital following a courageous battle with Covid-19.  She was the loving wife of Garth W. Emig.  The couple celebrated 41 years of marriage on August 31, 2020.
 
Born May 13, 1956 in York, Barbara was a daughter of the late George and Dolores (Benny) Warfel.
 
She was a homemaker who loved to cook, clean and take care of her family.  Barb was a second mom to many.  She had a heart of gold and will be remembered for her loving and nurturing ways. 
 
Barb enjoyed going to Hollywood Casino, listening to live bands, Motown music, dancing and drawing.  She was also a bargain shopper who frequented the area thrift shops.  Barb loved taking care of animals as well and made sure to feed the neighborhood stray cats.  She also enjoyed talking politics.
 
In addition to her husband, Barb is survived by three daughters, Stacy M. Warfel of Dillsburg, Casey L. Emig of Dover and Amanda E. Emig of West York; four grandchildren, Dane, Astoria, Catalina and Roman; a brother, George Warfel of York; a sister, Linda Oliver Beck of York; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat, Ugly.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Freddy Warfel; her dog, Bella; and cats, Kittie and Stonie.
 
As a result of the State’s current guidelines on gathering limits due to the covid-19 pandemic, services will be private at this time.  The family does plan to have a celebration of life service at a later date.  Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is serving her family.
