Betty J. Emig

DOVER – Betty J. (Ross) Emig, 95, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022 at UPMC Hanover.  She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Emig, her husband of sixty-five years.

Betty was born on March 18, 1927, a daughter of the late James B. Ross and Goldie I. (Harlacher) Ross.

Betty's main interest in life was always her family and everyone's well-being.  Another favorite topic was her longevity.  Last year when someone asked her what she wanted for her ninety-fourth birthday, she responded that she just wanted to be ninety-five.  We are grateful that she was granted that one special wish.  Betty enjoyed reading, crocheting, and doing word puzzles.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Sandra Emig.  She also leaves her grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Emig, and their wives, Cheryl and Meghan.  She is survived by her three great-grandchildren, Katherine, Jacob, and Molly.

Additionally, she leaves her brothers and sisters, John Ross, James Ross, Marie Stone, Gladys Hoke, Clyde Ross, Carolyn Stone, Ruthann Beck, and Faye Powley.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Her brothers and sister, Charles Ross, Carl Ross, and Margaret Ness, preceded her in death.

Betty will be laid to rest privately with her husband at Fort Indiantown Gap.  Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Memorial contributions may be made to Dover Township Volunteer Fire Department, 3700 Davidsburg Road, Dover, PA 17315.
