Beverly J. Baughman
DOVER – Beverly J. Baughman, 86, entered into rest at 9:55 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Manor Care Dallastown. She was the loving wife of Donald E. Baughman. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 19, 2021.
Born July 14, 1935 in West York, Beverly was a daughter of the late Sterling J.L. and Lillie A. (Gentzler) Garrett.
“Beb” graduated from Dover High School in 1953 as salutatorian and was involved in sports including track, basketball, and volleyball.
Beverly had over 40 years of service as a secretary for the family business, Baughman Memorial Works, in Dover. She also served as a registrar and deputy registrar for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Vital Records Division for over 30 years. Early in her career, she worked for York Bank & Trust Co.
Beverly had an enormous heart and a generous spirit. She gave the best hugs ever, and she shared all she had with all she knew. Beverly created a joyful home where family, friends, and animals always felt welcome and never went away hungry. She had an unquestioning love for her family, and an unyielding faith in her God. Beverly was a member of Zion U.M. Church and the church choir. She was also a member of Dover Lioness Club. Beverly was very involved in her daughter’s activities while they were growing up and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She tried to attend every one of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, and performances.
In addition to her husband, Beverly is survived by three daughters, Sharon K. Witmer and husband, Warren of Dover, Sandra L. King and husband, Barry and Suzanne M. Becker and husband, Scott, all of York; five grandchildren, Rachel Witmer, Matthew(Lynn) Witmer, Carrie(Joel) Becker, Benjamin Becker and Hunter King; five great grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Samuel and Grace Witmer and Charlotte Becker; and three sisters, Flurene R. Queen of York, Doris M. Paradies of Dover and Annie D. Delp of York. She was preceded in death by four brothers, George “Curt” Garrett, Donald R. Garrett, Harrison D. Garrett and David E. Garrett, Sr.; and two sisters, Margaret L. Klinedinst and Ethel L. Rishel.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Beverly’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Zion U.M. Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Joshua Rhone. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is serving her family.
