C. Jean Maxey
DOVER – C. Jean (Petit) Maxey, 82, of Dover, passed away, Sunday, June 02, 2024, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late Alfred F. Maxey who passed away, May 27, 2011.
Mrs. Maxey was born September 23, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late Nelson and Agnes (Arnold) Petit.
She had attended Friendship Community Church in the past.
Mrs. Maxey is survived by her daughter, Denise Snyder and her husband Scott of Dover; four grandchildren, Amber Snyder, Cortney Noll-Garcia, Chynna Ward, Mariah Campisi, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas J. Maxey, her granddaughter, Lauren Maxey, and her sister, Ellen Petit.
Jean’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and helping people. She volunteered with multiple Christian organizations including New Life for Girls and the Women’s AGLOW. Jean shared her love of cooking with her family and friends, welcoming anyone to her table. She also loved to help with local food ministries and share her love for Jesus. Her boisterous laugh and love of life will be remembered by all who knew her. Jeannie was one of a kind.
A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Friendship Community Church, 3380 Fox Run Road, Dover, PA. Her visitation will be from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Friday at the church. A private burial will take place in Fort Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery next to her husband. Officiating at her service will be Pastor Logan Ames. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Dover, PA.
