Carl W. Sowers
 
ELIZABETHTOWN – Carl W. Sowers, 89, formerly of Dover, entered into rest on Friday evening, September 17, 2021 at the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.  He was the husband of the late Marian L. (Meisenhelter) Sowers to whom he was married for 64 years.
 
Born December 21, 1931 in York, he was a son of the late Howard W. and Anna Marie (Plitt) Sowers. 
Carl graduated from William Penn High School and Penn State University. He had been employed by BMI where he was a metallurgist.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Carl was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and was past Master of Zeredatha - White Rose Lodge 451.  He was an avid Penn State football fan.  He never missed an event that his children were involved in and attended many of his grandchildren's events as well.
  
Carl is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Sowers of Bristol, CT, Melanie Sowers of York and Stephanie Sauvé of Mechanicsburg; a son, Craig Sowers of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Cory Sauvé, Matthew Clift, Zachary Sowers and Daniel Sowers; a sister, Evelyn Shertzer of York; and several nieces and great -nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
 
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Carl’s funeral at 11:30 a.m. and the viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery in Dover.  Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace U.C.C. in Hanover.
