Charles H. Fetrow

DOVER – Charles Hughes Fetrow, 99, entered into rest Wednesday morning, November 24, 2021 at ManorCare Kingston Court.  He was the loving husband of the late Mabel I. (Glass) Fetrow.  They were married 64 years.

Born January 19, 1922 in Conewago Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Lizzie (Hughes) Fetrow.

Charles was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving with Company A 55th Armored Infantry during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge.  He was the recipient of three Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart Medal with the 123rd Head Quarters 11th Armored Division on July 2, 1945.

Charles retired following 43 years of service as a truck driver for Pennfield Feed Co., previously D.E. Horn Feed Co.

He was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and Union Fire & Hose Co. #1, Dover.  He enjoyed gardening.

Charles is survived by his son, Curvin C. Fetrow and wife, Darlene of Dover; two grandchildren, Scott E. Fetrow and wife, Susan and Missy A. Myers and husband, Dave; two great grandsons, William and Nathan Fetrow.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Charles’ funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.  Officiating will be the Rev. Logan Ames, pastor of Friendship Community Church.
