Clarence J. Swartz, Jr.
 
YORK – Clarence J. “Bud” Swartz, Jr., 86, entered into rest at 1:31 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026 at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Cynthia A. “Cindy” (Leathery) Swartz.  The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage on May 7, 2025. 
 
Born June 16, 1939 in Dover, Clarence was a son of the late Clarence J. Swartz, Sr. and Ruth (Luckenbaugh) Swartz and step-son of the late Catherine (Sheets) Swartz. 
 
He was a U.S. Army veteran. 
 
Bud was the owner of Silver Dollar in North York and Spanky’s Tavern in York.  He also owned and operated Tubby Tommy’s Baked Potato Stand for 40 years at the York Fair. 
 
Bud was a life member of West York VFW Post 8951, Rooster Social Club and the Viking Athletic Association.  He enjoyed camping and boating. 
 
In addition to his wife, Clarence is survived by his two daughters, Beverly J. Mathison and husband, Todd and Vickie L. Hoskin and husband, Brian, all of Dover; three grandchildren, Jennifer Crone, Ashlee (Jimmy) Henney and Andrew (Renny) Hoskin; five great grandchildren, Shane, Emily, Taivon, Reyden and Ajani; and a host of extended family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, April Crone and brother, Frank E. Swartz and wife, Bev. 
 
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clarence's viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N Queen St, Dover. The funeral services will be held immediately after at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Salem Union Cemetery, Dover, where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be close family friend, Pastor Beth Heller.
