Craig A. Hertzog
DOVER – Craig A. Hertzog, 67, entered into rest unexpectedly on Sunday, April 30, 2023. He was the loving husband of Kimberly A. (Weaver) Hertzog. The couple celebrated 42 years of marriage on August 24, 2022.
Born March 11, 1956 in York, Craig was a son of the late Richard D. Hertzog and Gloria J. (Smith) Wolfgang and step-son of the late Connie Hertzog.
Craig graduated from Central High School in 1974. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, retiring as Senior Chief in 2011. He also retired in December of 2015 from Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg.
Craig earned the Brotherhood level of the Order of the Arrow in Boy Scouts. He was an avid bowler who participated in numerous leagues at Colony Park Lanes North. Most of all, Craig was a full time grandpa who made sure to be his granchildren's biggest cheerleader.
In addition to his wife, Craig is survived by his son, Craig A. Hertzog and wife, Melissa of Dillsburg; daughter, Amanda M. Pugh and husband, Nicholas of Etters; four grandchildren, Simone and husband, Israel, Miranda, Hunter and Ashtyn; four great grandchildren, Adalyn, Maxton, Wrenley, Lochlan; a brother, Kevin L. Hertzog of York; three sisters, Pamela Wagner of Dover, Deb Altland and Trudy Hertzog, both of York; three half-sisters, Diane Ness and Gretchen Warren, both of York, and Michelle Boser of Red Lion; a half-brother, Mike Hertzog of York; and his mother-in-law, Shirley Weaver of Dover.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Craig’s funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 and the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be family friend, the Rev. Edward J. Rowand, pastor of Rohlers Assembly of God in Dover.
