David R. Anderson
DOVER – David Robert Anderson, 85, entered into rest on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his home. He was the loving husband of Nancy L. (Hilker) Anderson. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage on September 5, 2024.
Born January 9, 1939 in Kralltown, David was a son of the late Harlen E. and Mabel E. (Smith) Anderson.
He graduated from East Berlin High School in 1956. David enlisted in the U.S. Army the day after graduation and served for two years.
He retired from New Cumberland Army Depot.
David was a life member of the Viking Athletic Association and a former Mason. He and his wife enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles, their daughters' sporting events, yard sales and attending Country Music concerts.
Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and beloved dogs, Jakey and Andy.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his two daughters, Karen Holtzapple and husband, Randy “Buck” of Dover and Sharon Pirie and husband, Ken of York; four grandchildren, David Nicholson(girlfriend, Heather), Shawn Holtzapple(Cassie), Carrie Black(Doug) and Derek Holtzapple(Kayla); 12 great grandchildren; sister, Corinne Eichelberger of Mount Wolf; brother, Harlen Anderson, Jr. of Kralltown; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Richard Anderson and a sister, Dorothy Speck.
Following cremation, services for David will be private at the convenience of his immediate family. Burial will be in Red Mount Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
