LEWISBERRY – Dawn K. Shearer, 71, entered into rest at 12:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at her home. She was the loving wife of Richard A. Shearer. The couple celebrated 51 years of marriage on April 28, 2024. Born October 15, 1952 in Conewago Township, Dawn was a daughter of Grace (Lemkelde) Laird of Wellsville and the late Herman M. Laird.  Dawn loved the Lord and faithfully trusted in His Word with unwavering faith to believe in the God of the Impossible.

In addition to her husband and mother, Dawn is survived by her daughter, Jollene K. Wise of Lewisberry; grandson, Tristan G. Wise; and sister, Karen L. Kohler and husband, Randy of Lewisberry. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gale R. Dillon.

She attended the Mount Royal Full Gospel Church since she was a child. Dawn loved horses and rode for many years, she especially loved trail riding in the mountains and hills of central Pennsylvania. She would prepare for every aspect of the ride and would be there to help all on the trail, providing instructions and even checklists to the newcomers. Dawn was a member of Wellsville Frontier Days and also supported her husband and family in the Wellsville Boots and Saddles 4-H program. She graduated from Northern York High School in 1971. Dawn had 25 years of service for Book of the Month Club. She previously worked for Record Club of America, Danskin and Beeman Electronics. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dawn’s funeral at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. The viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn Yohn, pastor of Victory Tabernacle Church in Carlisle.
