Delores J. Sheffer
DOVER – Delores Jane Sheffer, 90, entered into rest at 1:24 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family members. She was the wife of the late Nathan K. “Nace” Sheffer with whom she shared 52 years of marriage, prior to his death on April 11, 2003.
Born April 3, 1932, in York, Delores was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie (Fink) Grim.
Delores’s greatest accomplishment was the family that she and Nace created together on the family farm, for which she was very proud. Her greatest pride and joy was having everyone gather for holidays, celebrations for special occasions or just for the “fun of it”. As long as everyone was together she was happy. She enjoyed gardening, mowing and keeping the homestead beautiful for everyone who visited.
Delores will be greatly missed by her seven daughters, Kay L. Wagman and companion William Duerr of Manchester; Cathy A. Shank of Hanover, Donna M. Ziegler and husband, Barry of Dover, Susan J. Sheffer and husband, Kenneth of York, Sandra J. Zirkle and husband, Cliff of Dover, Patricia E. Angel and husband, Terry of Dover and Jill E. Sheffer of York; eight grandchildren, Chad (Amy) and Travis (Nikki) Wagman, Ryane (Shank) Hill and husband, Eric, Joshua (Jenn) and Tyler (Whitney) Sheffer, Derrick (Holly) and Corey (Kristen) Zirkle, and Carrie (Zirkle) Lehman and husband Kody; fourteen great grandchildren, Mason, Coby, Lincoln, Hudson, Frankie, Jack, Nathan, Ethan, Weston, Alaina, Aleecia, Ellie, Brayden, Hadley and another one on the way; a sister, Virginia Rebert of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Knute “Luck” Wagman and Gordon Shank; a sister, Esther Lemkelde and a brother, Dale Grim.
A private memorial service and burial will be held at Quickel Lutheran Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life event for Delores will be scheduled for a later date. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving her family.
