Dennis E. Keister

DOVER – Dennis E. Keister, 70, was taken by God's angels to his New Heavenly Home at 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at WellSpan York Hospital.

He was the son of Claudia I. (Gemmill) Keister of Dover and the late Rudolph E. Keister.

Dennis graduated from West York High School in 1975 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years.

He retired in 2022 from Wal-Mart following 17 years of service and previously had over 20 years of service for Toys-R-Us.

Dennis was an active member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God where he was the head usher.  On Thursdays, he attended the Gospel Jam at Church of the Open Door (when he wasn't working at Calvary Temple's church farm).  He had an unbelievable collection of DVD’s, VHS’s and CD’s.

In addition to his mother, Dennis is survived by his sister, Jean D. Green and husband, Duane of York; step-mother, Shirley Keister of Shiloh; step-sister, Michelle Shenberger of Dover; step-brother, Chuck Green of York; nephew, William Christian; two nieces, Celeste and Elizabeth Christian; two great nephews; four great nieces; two maternal aunts; one maternal uncle; and numerous cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dennis’ funeral at 10:30 a.m. and the viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.  Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Benny Ortiz.
