Donald C. Sponsler
DOVER – Donald C. “Donnie” Sponsler, 78, entered into rest Friday evening, March 18, 2022 at Yorkview Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born September 18, 1943 in York, Donnie was a son of the late Robert and Mary (Airing) Sponsler.
Donnie graduated from York Catholic High School. He was a talented musician as the lead singer of the Del-Chords, Yesterday’s Tomorrow, and Last Time Around. He was very active with the Tri-Town Boys Club when his sons played football for the team.
Donnie is survived by his children, Andy Abel of Florida, Robin Pritchard of DuBois, Gabriel Sponsler and wife, Cynthia of York, and Devin Sponsler of York; several grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Sponsler of Dover and Steven Sponsler of West York; a step-brother, Jeffrey Brown of Australia; and his former wife, Bonita (Gable) Sponsler of York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacey Pritchard and son, Derrick Sponsler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Donald’s funeral at 1 p.m. and the viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery, Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace U.C.C. in Hanover.
