Dorothy R. Lindt
YORK – Dorothy R. (Grove) Lindt, 90, entered into rest on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at her home. She was the longtime companion of James R. Gettys. They were together for 27 years.
Born July 1, 1935 in New Freedom, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Harold and Lettie (Shue) Grove. She attended William Penn High School.
Dorothy retired from Verizon following 30 years of service as a phone operator. She was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church.
Dorothy and James were snowbirds, traveling to Florida annually for 17 years. She enjoyed going for rides with him in his Corvette and going to yard sales. Dorothy also loved to dance and spend time with her grandchildren. She always had a positive attitude and could rarely be seen without a smile on her face. She was also very fashionable.
In addition to her companion, Dorothy is survived by her son, Larry Lindt and wife, Jen of Delaware; two daughters, Bonnie Casucci and husband, Anthony of Apollo Beach, FL and Debbie Gadient and husband, Andrew of Red Wing, MN; two step-children, Cathy Melbert and husband, George and Michael Gettys, all of Shiloh; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Lindt, Allison Lindt, Sam Casucci(Emily), Tallie Trettin(Kyle), Paige Gadient, Weston Gadient(Grace), Isabella and Matthew; a great grandson, Colton Gadient; and a brother, Raymond Grove and wife, Doris of York. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bud Grove and wife, Helen; and sisters, Miriam Grove and Shirley Rae Grove.
Dorothy’s wishes were to donate her body to science.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Shiloh Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Rd., York, with a visitation to follow. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. DeAnn Books.
