DILLSBURG – Edwin L. Smith, 81, entered into rest on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center.  He was the loving husband of Cheryll A. (Webb) Johnson Smith.  The couple would have celebrated 30 years of marriage on June 3, 2025.

Born January 25, 1944 in York, Edwin was a son of the late Raymond L. and Velzetta I. (Hughes) Smith.

Edwin graduated in 1961 from Dover High School.  He retired from Yellow Corporation following 22 years of service where he was a supervisor and had previously worked for Harley Davidson for a number of years.

Edwin faithfully attended Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg.  Together with his wife, he enjoyed reading his daily devotions and scriptures.  Edwin also took pride in maintaining his produce garden and raising chickens.  In his younger years, he was an avid hunter.

In addition to his wife, Edwin is survived by a daughter, Cindy Steele and husband, Mark of Lancaster; three sons, Lemuel Smith of Lemoyne, Michael Smith and wife, Jackie of Dover and Daniel Smith and wife, Brandy of Haymarket, VA; two step-sons, Chad Johnson and wife Meagen of Manchester and Martin Johnson and wife Rachel of Grand Ledge, MI; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Carson E. Smith, husband of the late Frances, of Dover.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Edwin’s funeral at 3 p.m. and the visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover.  Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Luke Zimmerman.
