Eleanor L. Barkby

DOVER – Eleanor L. “Elie” (Jenks) Barkby, 86, entered into rest at 3:10 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Harry W. “Bill” Barkby.  They were married 62 years.

Born June 29, 1937 in Syracuse, NY, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Ruth J. (Kramer) Jenks.

Elie and her husband, Bill, owned and operated B&E Junction for 19 years.  She previously worked as a secretary for several businesses.  Elie was a member of Colonial York Doll Club.

She is survived by a son, David W. Barkby and wife, Debra of Dover; a grandson, Lonnie A. Barkby; and two sisters, Carol Perrone and Susan Jenks, both of Syracuse.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Barkby and a sister, Norma Nemeth.

Following cremation, services will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
