Elmer J. Hull

YORK – Elmer J. Hull, 95, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran The Village at Sprenkle Drive.  He was the husband of the late Miriam A. (Weaver) Hull who died in 2008.  They were married for 58 years.

Born July 18, 1926 in East Berlin, Elmer was a son of the late George A. and Edna M. (Gross) Hull.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Elmer retired in 1988 from Consolidated Freightways where he had 28 years of service.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown where he was a member of the choir and a Sunday School Teacher for the adult class.  Elmer was also a member of Teamsters Local 430 and served as president for 12 years for the retired Teamsters.  He sang with the York Chorus for 20 years and volunteered with the Northeastern Food Pantry.

Elmer is survived by a daughter, Denise E. Hull of York; two sons, Daryl E. Hull of York and Duane E. Hull of Dover;9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lenora Bear of Manchester and Mayetta Becker of York; a brother, Rev. Charles Hull of York; and two step-sisters, Mary Arnold and Ann Schuchart, both of York.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Danette E. Godfrey and a brother, Wayne Hull.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Elmer’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown, 498 Church Road, York.  Burial will follow in Quickel Cemetery where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.  Officiating will be the Rev. Cynthia Baxter and Vicar Matthew Folkemer-Leonard.  Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving Elmer’s family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown Memorial Fund, 498 Church Rd. York, PA 17406.
