DOVER - Ernest L. Holmes, 89, passed away, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home in Dover, PA. He was the husband of the late Rosemarie A. (Vukmanic) Holmes who passed away July 4, 2022.

Mr. Holmes was born November 15, 1935, in West York, PA. and was the son of the late Arthur and Pearl (Ellis) Holmes.

He graduated in 1953 from Dover Area High School in Dover, PA. He was employed by Duplex Products in York before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association and Vikings Club.

Mr. Holmes is survived by his son, Michael Holmes and his wife Teresa of Dover; two grandchildren, Derek Holmes of York, PA, and Brianna Shusko and her husband Steven of York Haven, PA, and one great grandson, Kohin Holmes. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Holmes, his brother, Kenneth Holmes and his sister, Marie Finzer.

Mr. Holmes’ service will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 47 North Queen Street, Dover, PA. His visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. His burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Officiating at the service will be Pastor James Winter, Sr.
