Estella J. Stover

DOVER – Estella J. “JoAnn” (Hess) Stover, 74, entered into rest at 1:37 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. 

Born October 20, 1948 in York, she was a daughter of the late David E. and Stella B. (Deckman) Hess.

JoAnn attended Northeastern High School.  She worked as a secretary and assistant to Nancy Good, the regional manager of Home Interiors, and later, as a nurse’s assistant at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home.  Following retirement, she was a school van driver for Kelly Transit.

JoAnn was a longtime volunteer for Family Clothes Tree and served as president for several years.  She enjoyed crocheting and crafts, as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

JoAnn is survived by two children, Tammy Brenneman and husband, Eddie of Dover and Dennis R. “Jake” Stover, Jr. and wife, Lori of Dillsburg; two grandsons, Austin Stover and wife, Morgan and Levi Stover and girlfriend, Ashliegh Lenhart; a sister, Rebecca Hess of Dover; and a brother, William Hess and wife, Sharon of York New Salem.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Hess.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend JoAnn’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Dover Bethany Cemetery.  Officiating will be family friend, Todd Pequinot.
