Esther M. Keister
MANCHESTER – Esther M. (Keefer) Keister, 83, entered into rest at 11:40 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Yorkview Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Keister, Sr.
Born April 23, 1940 in York, she was a daughter of the late Allen R. and Cora M. (Fortney) Keefer.
Esther retired from Pfaltzgraff in 2002 and later drove for F & S Transportation in Manchester.
She enjoyed gardening, walking her dogs and spending time with her family. Her Thanksgiving meals were “epic”. Esther loved going to the beach, especially Ocean City, Maryland and Assateague Island.
She is survived by five children, Richard Keister and wife, Janet of York Haven, Randall Keister and wife, Denise of Dover, Barbara Keister of Manchester, Cindy Shaw and husband, Rick of Alabama and Diane Snyder, wife of the late Thomas, of York; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Cook of Dover and Evelyn Mae Smith of York; a brother, Merl A. Keefer, Sr. of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Keister, Jr.; eight brothers, John, Wayne, David, Bruce, Raymond, Alvin, Robert and Dean Keefer; and three sisters, Sylvia R. Anderson, Sarah Jane Phillips and Mildred Keefer.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a time to celebrate Esther’s life from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.
