Fern Anna May King
YORK – Fern Anna May (Hull) King, 84, entered into rest at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Wayne Roy King. The couple celebrated 62 years of marriage on April 2, 2023.
Born August 20, 1939 in East Berlin, Fern was a daughter of the late Chester and Florence (Gross) Hull.
She worked for West York Area High School where she was an administrative assistant. Fern was a very active member of Zion United Methodist Church in York for 62 years, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Fidelis Class, participated in the hand bell choir and was part of the Heart to Heart group. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing games and cards, jigsaw puzzles, watching and supporting her grandchildren in their sports and visiting the beach. She was also an avid Penn State football fan.
In addition to her husband, Fern is survived by three children, Jeff King and wife, Lisa of Aliso Viejo, CA, Jody Crum and husband, William of Catonsville, MD and Joel King and wife, Kamela of Fountainville, PA; four grandchildren, Kyle Crum, Eric Crum and wife, Danica, Courtney King and Kayla King; a great grandson, Jaxon Crum; and three sisters, Sarah Lou Hothan, Grace Cook and Mary Crone.
Following a private graveside service, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of Fern’s life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Zion U.M. Church, 1030 Carlisle Rd., York with the visitation to follow. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Joshua Rhone. Interment will take place in Paradise Union Cemetery in Thomasville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
