Frances E. Kunkle
DOVER – Frances E. (Grove) Kunkle, 92, entered into rest Tuesday evening, January 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Bruce L. Kunkle, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage when he died on May 15, 2010.
Born on July 11, 1931 in Washington Township, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Sybilla E. (Heikes) Grove.
Frances was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Red Run Church, East Berlin, where she had taught Sunday School for 30 years. She was a life member of East Berlin Historical Society and volunteered at the East Berlin Community Center. Frances and her husband were broom makers who participated in East Berlin Colonial Days for 35 consecutive years.
Frances is survived by five children, Linda M. Gerberick and husband, Wayne of York, Lois E. Dubbs and husband, Barry, Marvin L. Kunkle and wife, Tyra and Marilyn L. Julius and husband, Galen, all of East Berlin and Brian L. Kunkle and wife, Chris of Dover; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; and two brothers, Sherman M. Grove of New Oxford and Leon M. Grove of Dover. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darvin J. Grove and a sister, Aquilla R. Lick.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Frances’ funeral at 3 p.m. and the viewing from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at St. Paul’s Red Run Church, 6623 Davidsburg Rd., East Berlin. Burial will follow in Red Run Cemetery. Officiating will be her pastors, the Rev. Zach Galemore and the Rev. Zach Stec. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
