DOVER – Gale Y. (Sharp) Beck, 79, entered into rest at 10:58 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home.  She was the wife of the late William R. Beck, Sr.

Born April 15, 1943 in York, Gale was a daughter of the late David and Alma (Gotwalt) Sharp.

Gale attended William Penn High School.  She was a homemaker who also assisted with her husband’s business, Beck’s Paving and Excavating.  Gale was a member of St. David’s E.C. Church in Dover.  She enjoyed visiting the mountains in Clinton County with her husband and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gale is survived by a son, William R. Beck, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Dover; a daughter, Tammy Melhorn and husband, Shawn of Dover; five grandchildren, Tyler Beck, Samantha Melhorn, Cheyanne Ort, Megan Melhorn and Shane Melhorn; five great grandchildren, Elias, Oliver, Cali, Zeek and Lucas; a sister, Belinda Painter of York; and a brother, John Sharp of York.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Shearer and a brother, David Sharp.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gale’s funeral at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens.  Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. N. Patrick Teaford.
