Gary F. Caboot

YORK – Gary F. Caboot, 82, entered into rest at 6:36 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Darlene M. (Myers) Caboot.  The couple celebrated 52 years of marriage on October 14, 2024.

Born July 7, 1942 in Scranton, he was a son of the late Frank and Dorothy L. (Mickel) Caboot.

Gary graduated from West Scranton High School in 1960 and in 1964 from the University of Scranton, earning a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a member of the 109th Infantry Army National Guard. 

Gary retired from Industrial Solvents & Lubricants in York where he worked in sales.  He later had 10 years of service as a substitute teacher for Dover and Northeastern School Districts.

Gary attended Calvary Baptist Church in York.  He was a 32nd degree White Rose Mason; a former member of the Sertoma Club; and a past president of Jacobus Lions Club.  He enjoyed fishing, yardwork and took pride in detailing his cars.

In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by a brother, Blain Caboot and wife, Shirl of Moosic, PA; a sister-in-law, Betty Caboot of Mechanicsburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Blair Caboot; and his beloved cat, Bleu.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Gary’s funeral at 3 p.m. and the viewing from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York.  Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover.  Officiating will be Pastor Jesse Loggans.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York, PA 17408; York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406; or your favorite charity.
