Harry W. Barkby
DOVER – Harry W. “Bill” Barkby, 87, entered into rest Wednesday afternoon, December 14, 2022 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Eleanor L. (Jenks) Barkby. They celebrated 62 years of marriage on September 30, 2022.
Born May 15, 1935 in New Castle, PA, Bill was a son of Harry and Hilda (Hewitt) Barkby.
He attended Syracuse University and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years.
Bill and his wife, Elie, owned and operated B&E Junction in New Oxford for 19 years and he also had 12 years of service in advertising and sales for Yellow Pages. He was a member of Emory U.M. Church in New Oxford. Bill was an avid toy train collector.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son, David W. Barkby of Dover and grandson, Lonnie A. Barkby. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Barkby and a brother, Fred Barkby.
Following cremation, Bill’s memorial service will be at Emory U.M. Church, 35 Center Square, New Oxford on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Dawes. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving his family.
