Irvin E. Baumgardner, Sr.
DOVER – Irvin E. Baumgardner, Sr., 94, entered into rest at 7:02 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021 at his home. He was the loving husband of Carolyn L. (Landmesser) Baumgardner. The couple celebrated 39 years of marriage on August 16, 2020. He was also husband of the late Mary C. (Crites) Baumgardner.
Born October 25, 1926 in Manchester, MD, Irvin was a son of the late Emma G. (Weaver) Baumgardner.
He graduated in 1944 from Eichelberger High School in Hanover.
Irvin served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II.
He had 32 years of service for Goodling Electric, Inc. where he was a service manager. He also worked 10 years for Shipley and had 26 years as a courier service with Stambaugh Ness.
Irvin was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover. He was also a member of Dover Lions Club; White Rose Lodge No. 706 F&AM; Zeredatha - White Rose Lodge No.451 F&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Lodge No. 30; Shiloh American Legion Post 791; Union Fire & Hose Co. #1, Dover; and Flirts & Skirts Square Dancing Club. Irvin was a life member of West Manchester VFW.
In addition to his wife, Irvin is survived by three sons, Irvin “Toby” E. Baumgardner of St. Charles, IL, Scott B. Baumgardner of Dover and Richard D. Dorset of Carey, NC; a daughter, Connie (Dorset) Trynovich, formerly of Lititz; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, a grandson, one brother and four sisters.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021 in Rest Haven Cemetery, 310-338 Westminster Ave., Hanover, there will be a Dover Lions Club memorial service for Irvin, as well as a Masonic service conducted by Zeredatha – White Rose Lodge No. 451. Veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Irvin’s graveside service will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Abby Leese, officiating. Emig Funeral Home, Dover, is serving his family.
