James R. Ketterman, Sr.
DOVER – James R. Ketterman, Sr., 81, entered into rest at 10:38 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Darlene M. (Gelwicks) Ketterman. They were married for over 55 years.
Born February 19, 1940 in York, James was a son of the late John D. and Alda G. Walker (Ketterman).
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
James had 25 years of service at Danskin and previously worked for Merry Mites and Doe Spun.
He was a member of New Life Assembly of God in East Berlin. James enjoyed fishing, baseball card collecting and gardening.
James is survived by two daughters, Sheila R. Fink and husband, Blaine and Teresa L. Einsig and husband, Mike, all of York; a son, James R. Ketterman, Jr. and wife, Patti-Jo of Wellsville; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Ketterman of Seven Valleys; and two sisters, Florence Saltzer and Mary Dill, both of Abbottstown. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Ketterman.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend James’ funeral at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at New Life Assembly of God, 2136 Baltimore Pike, East Berlin. There will be viewings from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens where veteran’s honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be his pastor, Joel Everhart.
