James E. Lau
DOVER – James E. “Jim” Lau, 65, entered into rest on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Irene F. (Berkheimer) Lau. The couple celebrated 46 years of marriage on October 8, 2023.
Born August 25, 1958 in York, he was a son of the late Elwood L. and Ruth L. (Schnetzka) Lau.
Jim attended York County Vo-Tech. He retired in February of 2010 following 33 years of service for Harley Davidson where he was the lead man of general maintenance. He was a member of IAM Local 175 and had been a member of H.O.G. for several years.
Jim attended Dover Bethany Church. He took pride in his Harley which he enjoyed riding to numerous locations, near and far. He liked riding his Honda motorcycle and Kubota tractor as well. Jim also enjoyed being outdoors, especially boating, fishing, hunting, camping and time spent around the campfire. Most importantly, Jim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two daughters, Kimberly S. Rohrer and husband, Keith and Nicole R. Lau, all of Dover; daughter-in-law, Katrina Lau of Manchester; grandchildren, Jonathan, Shannon and Vera; two brothers, Eugene Lau and wife, Amy of Red Lion; Chuck Lau and wife, Amy of West York; sister-in-law, Sharon Lau of Red Lion; numerous nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James E. Lau II; and brothers, Robert Lau and Gorman “Woody” Lau.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jim’s celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, followed by a time of visitation, at Dover Bethany Global Methodist Church, 4510 Bull Rd., Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dover Bethany Global Methodist Church, 4510 Bull Rd., Dover, PA 17315; or the Cancer Patient Help Fund, c/o WellSpan York Health Foundation, 2500 S. George St., York, PA 17403.
