THOMASVILLE – James “Jim” Austin Nelles, 77, entered into rest at 2:44 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Andrea J. (Ahgreen) Nelles.  The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage on September 21, 2021.

Born May 15, 1945 in Dunnville, Canada, Jim was a son of the late Ross M. and Thelma V. (Johnson) Nelles.

Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran.  He had 27 years of service for Washington, D.C. Police, retiring in 2001 as Sergeant.

Jim was a member of West Manchester VFW Post 7374.  He enjoyed playing pool and played in several pool leagues. He also enjoyed reading, vegetable and flower gardening and fishing.   In his younger years, Jim made aquariums and raised angel fish. 
 
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by three children, Barbara A. Ross and husband, Anthony of Rome, NY, Jennifer L. Klingler and husband, Calvin R. of Hanover and James D. “Jamie” Nelles and wife, Andrea of Dover; eleven grandchildren, Alexander, Carynn, Dylan, Jacoby, Alexis, David, Kelsey, Zachary, Logan, Julianna and Anthony, Jr.; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Judy Caruana of Raleigh, NC.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Abraham Nelles.

Services for Jim will be private at the convenience of his family.
