James E. Vogelsong
YORK – James E. Vogelsong, 86, entered into rest Thursday night, July 2, 2026 at Country Meadows of York – West. He was the husband of the late Deanna M. (Hoover) Vogelsong who died June 29, 2025.
Born April 20, 1940 in Carlisle, James was a son of the late James R. Vogelsong and Anna P. (Bishop) Vogelsong and step-son of the late Julia (Highland) Vogelsong.
James was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He and his wife owned and operated White Horse Diner. James had also worked for AmeriGas, Agway and as a real estate agent for Century 21. He was a member of Pleasureville Christian Church and enjoyed hunting.
James is survived by three sons, James R. Vogelsong and wife, Sandra of Spring Grove, Bryan L. Vogelsong and wife, Tina of York and David L. Vogelsong and wife, Stacy of Dover; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Anna Krouse, Elsie Rae Leathery, Gretchen Krouse and Becky Braun; and a brother, Richard Vogelsong. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Morrison and Joyce Ann Gray.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery where veteran honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Officiating will be the Rev. Brenda Marin Enders.
