Jean E. Harner
YORK – Jean E. (Rentzel) Harner, 97, entered into rest at 11:52 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Kelly Drive. She was the wife of the late Richard I. “Dick” Harner.
Born March 8, 1925 in Dover Township, she was a daughter of the late Walter R. and Ellen N. (Brenner) Rentzel.
Jean was a homemaker and member of Harmony Grove Community Church in Dover, as well as Union Fire & Hose Co. #1 Ladies Auxiliary, Dover. She volunteered with the York Rescue Mission and enjoyed sewing for family and friends.
Jean is survived by four children, Richard A. Harner and wife, Judy of Dover, E. Elaine Hage and husband, George of Winston-Salem, NC, Scott S. Harner and wife, Patsy of Sheridan, MT and Jacqueline L. Allen and husband, Donovan of York; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and three sisters, Ethel M. Fitzkee and Patricia A. Kulp, both of Dover and Mary Alice Green of Shiloh. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-grandson, three sisters, Louise A. Martin, Margaret M. Hayes and Betty J. Smith; and three brothers, Walter R. Rentzel, Jr., Roy R. Rentzel and Richard Rentzel.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Harmony Grove Community Church, 6390 Harmony Grove Rd., Dover. Burial will follow in Red Mount Cemetery, East Berlin. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. James Crosley. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving her family.
