DOVER – Jean M. (Fickes) Neiman, 99, entered into rest Saturday afternoon, June 24, 2023 at Providence Place in Dover.  She was the wife of the late Clair W. Neiman.  They were married 71 years.

Born October 4, 1923 in Dover, Jean was a daughter of the late Harry V. and Lillie A. (Brillhart) Fickes.

She graduated from Dover High School in 1941 and was a homemaker.  Jean was a member of Dover Bethany Church where she taught Sunday school and was an advisor for the youth group.  She was a member of the Dover Lioness Club as well.

Jean was a seamstress who also enjoyed needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, making homemade greeting cards and crafts of all kinds.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl A. Franklin, wife of the late Donald, of Dover and Gloria J. Hendrix and husband, Arthur of Shallotte, NC; four grandchildren, Lisa Fritz, Michael Franklin, Andrew and Christopher Hendrix; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Davidson, Clair, Curvin, James, Charles and Edward Fickes.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean’s funeral at 10:30 a.m. and the visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Dover Bethany Cemetery.  Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Salvatore Buonocore.
