Jean M. Stambaugh
YORK – Jean M. Stambaugh, 91, went home to be with the Lord at 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Normandie Ridge Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Elvin E. Stambaugh. They were married 64 years.
Born September 7, 1931 in York, Jean was a daughter of the late Carl K. and Sarah M. (Jacobs) Eisenhart.
She graduated from Dover High School in 1949 and was a homemaker.
Jean was a member of Church of the Open Door in York where she was a former choir member and helped with children’s ministry and senior adults. She played piano for her daughters, the “Stambaugh Sisters”, when they went to local churches to sing. Jean enjoyed playing piano, singing, quilting and shopping.
She is survived by her four daughters, Deborah L. Miller, wife of the late Thomas R. of York, Cynthia S. Knipel and husband, Timothy P. of York, Rebekah R. Klugh and husband, Donald S. of Dillsburg and Angela A. Basom and husband, Brent J. of Dillsburg; eleven grandchildren, Rachel, Joshua, Andrew, Andrea, Tessa, Trisha, Lydia, Levi, Chloe, Micah and Adam; six great grandchildren, Liam, Riley, Kaden, Kinley, Tyler, Tobias and one on the way; a brother, William Eisenhart of Dover; and a sister, Yvonne Sanger of Dover.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jean’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court, York. Officiating will be her pastor, the Reverend Donald Wagner. Burial will be in Paradise Holtzschwamm Union Cemetery in Thomasville. Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover, is serving her family.
