Jo A. Thompson
DOVER – Jo A. (Boeckel) Thompson, 74, entered into rest at 10:58 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at UPMC Hanover. She was the loving wife and best friend of William W. Thompson III. The couple celebrated 35 years of marriage on March 10, 2025.
Born August 31, 1951 in York, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Elaine (Byers) Boeckel.
Jo graduated from West York High School in 1969. She was a talented artist who worked as a graphic designer for various area employers, a floral designer for several florists, and designed jewelry with her husband.
Jo was a member of York Town Craft Guild. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, leatherworking, and trips to the beach.
In addition to her husband, Jo is survived by her daughter, Amy J. Grondin and husband, Jeff of Oxford, MI; two granddaughters, Emily & Eva Grondin; a sister, Christie Smith and husband, Stacy of York; and several nieces and nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Sharon Donohoe and Kathy Hopkins.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
