Joyce E. Ambrose

DOVER – Joyce E. Ambrose, 76, entered into rest on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at her home.  She was the wife of the late Donald L. Ambrose.

Born November 27, 1948 in York, she was a daughter of the late Maurice P. and Doris E. (Bare) Hildebrand.

Joyce retired from Matthews Casket Division (formerly York Caskets) following 12 years of service.  She previously worked for a number of area sewing factories.

Joyce is survived by two sons, Michael A. Ambrose and wife, Susan of Gettysburg and Troy L. Ambrose and wife, Lisa of Dover; five grandchildren, Brittany Ritz (Kyle), Heath Rudy, Zachery Ambrose, Logan Ambrose (Addison) and Beau Ambrose (Brianna); seven great grandchildren, Mason and Madalynn Ritz, Mavrick Rudy, Easton, Avaleigh, Blake and Lillymae Ambrose; and two brothers, Robert E. Hildebrand of York and Thomas E. Hildebrand of Dover.

In keeping with Joyce’s wishes, there are no services.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406.
