Leon R. Drawbaugh
MILLSBORO, DE - Leon R. Drawbaugh, 82, formerly of Dover, entered into rest at 4:09 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Christiana Care – Accent Care in Newark, DE. He was the loving husband of Linda (Wood) MacDonald-Drawbaugh.
Born August 23, 1942 in York, Leon was a son of the late Ross M. and Grace E. (Freysinger) Drawbaugh.
He graduated in 1960 from Dover Area High School and went on to work for Stauffer’s Superette Grocery Store in Dover which he eventually owned and operated. Leon later worked for Yorktowne Golf Course in York and retired from York County Prison where he was a prison guard.
Leon was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Greater Dover. He was a former volunteer firefighter for Union Fire & Hose Co. #1, Dover and drove for Dover Ambulance Club. He was a member of Rossville Hunting Camp in Potter County and a former member of Dover Fish and Game. Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing in Delaware in the ocean and the bay.
In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by his two sons, Kevin E. Drawbaugh and wife, Rebecca of Wellsville and Michael L. Drawbaugh and wife, Brenda of Dover; two step-sons, Dondi MacDonald and wife, Tammy and Patrick MacDonald and wife, Kelly; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Zelda Beschler and husband, George and Zelma Myers and husband, Charles and a brother, Dale Drawbaugh.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Leon’s funeral at 10:30 a.m. and the viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Lighthouse Baptist Church of Greater Dover, 5005 Carlisle Road, Dover. Burial will take place at 2:45 p.m. in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, with the procession forming at the cemetery’s entrance at 2:30 p.m. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Sterling Walsh, Jr. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Dover.
