Leroy E. Grove

ETTERS – Leroy E. Grove, 87, entered into rest at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Pappus House in York.  He was the husband of the late Phyllis E. (Senft) Grove who passed away on October 20, 2015.  They were married for 61 years.

Born May 15, 1935 in York, Leroy was a son of the late Lester J. and Dorothy R. (Hammer) Grove.

Leroy retired in 1997 from Ness Company in York following over 40 years of service.

He was a lifetime member of Dover Fish & Game where he served as a board member and past president.  Leroy was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping and traveling out west.  He loved animals.

Leroy is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Grove and wife, Jane of Brooksville, FL and Donald L. Grove and wife, Teresa of Wrightsville; daughter, Melissa M. Grove of Etters; four grandchildren, Holly Betz, Josh and Derek Grove and Laurel Crone; four great grandchildren, Makenna Grove, Sebastian Grove, Gavino Grove and Faith Betz; sister, Patsy Pomraning and husband, Byron of York; and third “son”, Kevin Ness of Port St. Lucie, FL.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Grove and a sister, Charlotte Huson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Leroy’s funeral at 11 a.m. and the viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 47 N. Queen St., Dover.  Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover.  Officiating will be the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier, pastor of Grace UCC in Hanover.
