Linda Mae Gruver
DOVER – Linda Mae Gruver, 70, went home to be with her Heavenly Father at 11:39 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the loving wife of George R. Gruver. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 24, 2022.
Born June 28, 1952 in Mechanicsburg, Linda was a daughter of Betty (Bentzel) Hughes of Dover and the late Leon L. Hughes.
Linda graduated from Dover High School in 1970. She held many jobs over the years, but her most important was homemaker. She loved cooking, caring for, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the sunshine, traveling to all-inclusives and the beach at Ocean City, MD, and spending time with her beloved dog, Lucky.
In addition to her husband and mother, Linda is survived by a daughter, Jennifer A. Herbst and husband, Brian of Seven Valleys; three sons, Jeremy A. Gruver, Justin A. Gruver and wife, Breanna, and Jesse A. Gruver and wife, Abby, all of Dover; six grandchildren, Logan and Dylan Herbst, Ella, Claire, Beau and Cameron Gruver; two sisters, Kathy Spahr and Roxine Seasock, both of Dover. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Krista.
Following cremation, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and a service to celebrate Linda’s life at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Rohlers Assembly of God, 761 Rohlers Church Rd., Dover. Officiating will be the Rev. Edward J. Rowand. Arrangements have been entrusted to Emig Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc. in Dover.
