Lottie A. Berkheimer
YORK – Lottie A. Berkheimer, 89, entered into rest at 10:40 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at ManorCare Health Services North. She was the loving wife of Robert R. Berkheimer who passed away on April 28, 2021. The couple celebrated 69 years of marriage on June 24, 2020.
Born June 6, 1931 in Dover, Lottie was a daughter of the Carl E. and Elizabeth C. (Lauer) Stover.
She graduated from Dover High School in 1949.
Lottie was a homemaker and had worked for Bears Department Store in downtown York and the Bon-Ton.
She was a member of Harmony Grove Community Church in Dover where she was a nursery coordinator. Lottie was an integral part of the founding of Christian School of York. She helped with fundraisers for the school and was in charge of the candy sales. Lottie and her husband raised numerous foster children over the years.
She is survived by a daughter, Robin A. Kauffman and husband, Kevin of Lewisberry; a son, Denis E. Berkheimer and wife, Ida of York; seven grandchildren, Dave and Sue Myers, Ruth Aikins, Rachel Wilkins, Hannah, Robert and Sara Berkheimer; and four great grandchildren, Linus and Esme Myers and Logan and Ella Wilkins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ted R. Berkheimer and a foster son, Gary L. Snell.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lottie’s funeral at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Harmony Grove Community Church, 6390 Harmony Grove Rd., Dover with the viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in Salem Union Cemetery in Dover. Officiating will be her pastor the Rev. Jim Crosley.
